Congrats to Ely!
OUR HATS OFF to Ely for being named Minnesota Moments’ 2010 “Best hometown!“ This is the third year of our award, given to the hometown that best exemplifies the good life Minnesota has to offer. Previous winners were Cold Spring and Hutchinson. We hope you find our stories and pictures about Ely as interesting to read and look at as they were to gather.
The folks in Ely take a back seat to no one when it comes to hospitality. If you haven’t been to Ely, you must plan a visit. If you have, you’ll know that you want to visit again.
This edition of Minnesota Moments features the talents of several new contributors. Chris Schlueter, who was featured as the subject of a story in our last issue, has joined us as a food columnist. Chris loves to garden, cook, and try healthy recipes. We thought she would be a good fit for the magazine.
We also are running our first illustration by artist Lori Gnahn and the first essay submitted by Kent O. Stever.
And contributing to our Ely package are several people familiar with that area. Cathy Studer, who has a home in Ely, submitted a travel piece with some of her friends. They plan to make writing for Minnesota Moments a part of their routine. Also, Ely residents “Iron” Mike Hilllman and Bob Matson have contributed, as have Mike and Annie Guldan, New Ulm residents who have made Ely their home away from home. We are glad that all of these folks are sharing their talents with us, and you!
As always, we have packed as much great material as possible into this publication. We appreciate your continued support, whether you are a loyal reader or a faithful advertiser. Without you, this publication would not be possible.
So, enjoy the rest of your summer and this issue of the magazine. We’ll see you again in the fall. Oh, and if you visit Ely, give them a big “howdy” from Minnesota Moments.
